Well-spacing and conservation were unheard of in the Cushing boom. These wooden derricks line the Cimarron River. A beautiful, clear stream before the boom, the Cimarron soon was covered with oil from the wild-flowing wells along its banks. Because of the high gasoline content, Cushing oil was sought by refineries above most other crudes.
