The I-44 41st Street bridge redecking project has been cancelled due to plans announced by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to widen I-44 to six lanes through Tulsa, a project that would result in demolition of the 41st Street bridge because the piers are in the wrong location for a six-lane highway. As a result, crews now are repairing the bridge deck section that was torn out last week, and normal traffic flow should return in the near future. Photograph taken July 13, 1984.
