The substructure is complete on the new I-44 westbound bridge over Mingo Creek. The new, three-span bridge is much longer than its predecessor as evidenced by the dirt embankments seen beyond it. Decking soon will begin on the bridge. In the foreground is some of the concrete that was poured in Mingo Creek when the 21st Street bridges were built in 1984. The broken areas of concrete will be replaced as part of the I-44 bridge project. Photograph taken September 2, 1989.
