The Duck Creek bridge on Sheridan Road carried its final vehicle in September 1984. And, by all appearances, it was a big one. According to news reports, a truck carrying oil-rig equipment crossed the bridge, which had a five-ton load limit. The heavy weight sent the bridge to its final resting place - Duck Creek. The steel truss and wood decking were removed within a few weeks, but the bridge did not reopen until the fall of 1986. Photograph taken September 16, 1984.
