This view shows I-44 looking east from the MKT Railroad. The Broken Arrow Expressway interchange is in the distance. Until the late 1970s, the eastbound 31st Street/Memorial Drive exit ramp was located just east of the Broken Arrow Expressway (the remnants of this configuration can be seen on the overhead 31st Street/Memorial Drive exit sign), which created some problems with the proximity of that ramp to the eastbound I-44 entrance ramp from the Broken Arrow Expressway. The ramp then was relocated to become part of the Broken Arrow Expressway exit ramp, with traffic now following the frontage road through the interchange and then exiting to the right. A revised eastbound entrance ramp to I-44 from the Broken Arrow Expressway was built in place of the former exit ramp. In the background, the Embassy Suites Hotel can be seen rising above the lower-level exit signs. The hotel is being built on the site of the former Continental Theater, which was demolished in 1981.
