The I-44 bridge project at 21st Street and Mingo Creek is scheduled to begin in early 1989. The project involves replacing the old two-lane bridges with three-lane bridges and approaches as part of the master plan to widen I-44 to six lanes between the Arkansas River and the I-244 east interchange. The sign in the foreground has been relocated for the new roadway, which indicates how wide the highway will be in this area. Photograph taken November 1, 1988.
