The Creek Turnpike opened in 1992 and provided relief for east-west traffic in south Tulsa. The turnpike, which is all concrete, presently runs from Memorial Drive on the east to U.S. 75 on the west, although there are plans to eventually extend it to connect with I-44 on both sides of Tulsa. The turnpike has interchanges at Memorial Drive, Yale, Delaware and Peoria avenues, and U.S. 75. This view, looking east from the Harvard Avenue overpass, shows the turnpike with the Yale Avenue bridge/interchange in the distance. The sign gives mileages to Yale Avenue, Memorial Drive and Mingo Road, which only has an eastbound exit ramp. This photograph was taken May 18, 1993.
