In west Tulsa, I-44 splits from S.H. 66 and S.H. 33 to follow the Turner Turnpike, right, to Oklahoma City. S.H. 66 and S.H. 33 travel together through Sapulpa and then split west of the city, with S.H. 66 following I-44 to Oklahoma City and S.H. 33 heading west to the Texas border. This interchange was constructed in the late 1970s when I-44 was upgraded to interstate standards in the area. Prior to the upgrade, portions of I-44 in west Tulsa, including this interchange, had grade-level crossings. This photograph was taken July 16, 1987.
