Construction is under way on redecking the Broken Arrow Expressway bridges over 31st Street and Yale Avenue. At this time, traffic is narrowed to one inside lane to permit reconstruction of the two outside lanes. Congestion is common at rush hour, with jams sometimes a mile a length. This view shows one of the westbound bridges with the new (left) and old bridge decks. Some asphalt can be seen hanging over the edge of the concrete on the old deck. The two decks shown will never "meet," as the reinforcing rods at left will not be encased in concrete until the old portion (right) is rebuilt. This photograph was taken October 12, 1985.
