Eighth Street Looking East Toward New Interchange With U.S. 75

              This interchange was completed when the southern portion of the east leg of the Inner Dispersal Loop was built in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Originally, the left sign only said "To I-244." The "U.S. 75 North" was added after the Cherokee Expressway opened between Apache Street and I-244 in 1979. The east leg ended at this intersection (with no bridges) until the remainder opened along with the Broken Arrow Expressway and Southeast Interchange in 1981. The two bridges shown - the U.S. 75 mainlanes over Eighth Street and the northbound U.S. 75 exit ramp to Seventh Street - were built at this location in the late 1970s. The abandoned railroad tracks in the foreground are remnants of the Midland Valley Railroad. This photograph was taken November 18, 1983.
