This view shows the west end of the Broken Arrow Expressway extension (south leg of Inner Dispersal Loop) that opened in 1981. The new portion begins just around the bend and extends east to Xanthus Avenue. The five bridges on the Inner Dispersal Loop's south leg (Denver, Cheyenne, Boulder and Boston avenues and Main Street) essentially were built on the ground with the dirt being just below the pier cap. Crews then excavated the dirt to build the roadway. U.S. highways 75 and 64 and State Highway 51 use this section of expressway. The westbound left lane eventually carries southbound U.S. 75 traffic to westbound I-244. and the two routes are concurrent until splitting near 36th Street. The two right lanes carry U.S. 64 and S.H. 51 to eastbound I-244 before the two highways head west to Sand Springs via the Keystone Expressway. This photograph was taken June 8, 1986.
