Resurfacing is under way on the Yale Avenue approaches to the 61st Street intersection, which is one of the final jobs to be done before the intersection is complete. Resurfacing is complete on the south approach, and the future left-turn median has been outlined (white dots where holes will be drilled for the reinforcing rods). Resurfacing is under way on the southbound lanes of the north approach, which is the final section to receive the asphalt surface. The intersection also features a rare site - a solid green light temporarily in place of the left-turn arrow. This turned out to be the last intersection in Tulsa to have this configuration, although it was common at intersections that were widened in the mid 1970s to 1980. The configuration existed for several years on 51st Street at Yale Avenue until that portion of the intersection was widened in 1980 for left-turn lanes, at which time the solid green lens was converted to a green arrow. The green light shown here will become a left-turn arrow in the near future. This photograph was taken June 9, 1984.
