The 61st Street and Sheridan Road intersection, shown looking north from 62nd Street and Sheridan Road, will be improved as part of the 61st Street widening project between Yale Avenue and Sheridan Road. The intersection is two lanes on each approach, although some passing lanes shoulders are in place on Sheridan Road. The 61st Street project, which is funded by the 1980 sales tax, will widen the street to four lanes and improve the intersections at Yale Avenue and Sheridan Road. Sheridan Road is closed at this time due to excavation and widening of the hill near 63rd Street. In the distance, construction is winding down on the Sheridan Road project between 42nd and 50th streets. The section between 51st and 61st streets is two lanes and unfunded at this time. This photograph was taken April 24, 1983.
