This view shows 61st Street and Harvard Avenue looking south. This approach is four lanes with open ditches. The widening project includes storm sewers, which will replace the ditches. The southbound right lane ends at the intersection, as an open ditch is in its place on the south approach. Traffic congestion can occur here, as motorists often have to merge on the north approach (or determine if someone is turning left so they can pass through the intersection in the right lane and merge before the lane runs out). In the distance on the right (where the white wall is) is a home that has an azalea display each spring. A sign usually is posted that states "You are welcome to drive through."
