Construction has begun on a project to widen Yale Avenue to six lanes between I-44 and 61st Street. Traffic at 51st Street and Yale Avenue presently is one lane on the southbound lanes, but it soon will be switched to the old northbound lanes so the southbound lanes can be rebuilt. The congestion is expected to worsen until construction is completed in 1992. No-left-turn signs have been installed at 51st Street and Yale Avenue. Photograph taken May 25, 1991.
