Flooding along the Arkansas River has stalled work on the Riverside Drive bridge over Joe Creek. The water in Joe Creek, which is much deeper than normal, backs up beyond 71st Street, a distance of nearly one mile. Prior to the flooding, the piers were completed as were parts of the abutment walls. The water slowly is receding, so work should resume on the bridge in a few weeks.
