Construction began in the summer of 1982 on a project to widen Memorial Drive to four lanes between 71st and 91st streets. The asphalt base has been applied to the new lanes between 71st Street and just south of 91st Street, except for the portion where the present roadway bisects the new lanes (near 87th Street), which is where the new lanes switch sides. Concrete paving is under way on the southbound portion between 87th and 91st streets, while paving forms are appearing on the northbound portion between 71st and 87th streets, which indicates that paving soon will commence on this section. This view is looking north on Memorial Drive near 86th Street, with the 81st Street intersection visible in the distance. Photograph taken November 25, 1982.
