The 71st Street bridge and a new section of roadway between the bridge and U.S. 75 are nearing completion. The bridge and the section of 71st Street are complete, and the final layer of asphalt soon will be applied on 71st Street, which is partially open between U.S. 75 and Elwood Avenue. The Arkansas River bridge's east end can be seen in the distance (small white portion just above the hill). The bridge's east approach is asphalt but will be repaved with concrete when 71st Street is widened to six lanes between the Arkansas River and Lewis Avenue. This project is scheduled to begin in 1984. Photograph taken November 5, 1983.
