Construction at 21st Street and Utica Avenue has created an obstacle course for motorists on 21st Street, as there are at least two traffic switchovers on the street. Motorists can be found weaving their way through the project while attempting to avoid hitting one of the many orange barrels that line the street. Storm sewer work is under way on both sides of 21st Street, with much of the work on the north side involving rebuilding the boxes/inlets and installing new curbs. A new lane has been added on the south side, and this has included installing a new storm sewer. The east approach has not required as much work because it originally had a median with a fence, so the curbs were not too far away from where they need to be for the completed project. West of Utica Avenue, the roadway originally was a four-lane curb-to-curb street, so an extra lane is being added on the south side of 21st Street to allow for the original eastbound left lane to become the new left-turn lane. The project should be completed later this fall. In the distance, a piece of Tulsa history can be seen in the form of a TG&Y truck. Photograph taken September 11, 1982.
