The Sheridan Road project between 42nd and 50th streets was completed in June 1983, and traffic flow has responded well to the new roadway. The project involved rebuilding the outside lanes and replacing deteriorated concrete sections on the inside lanes. Storm sewers were installed at a width to allow for possible widening in the future, and a southbound left-turn lane and traffic signal were installed at 46th Street. Traffic flow also has been improved by subsequent widening projects that have improved Sheridan Road to 63rd Street, as well as the 71st Street intersection. Photograph taken October 1, 1988.
