Following two years of construction, the Riverside Drive extension between 61st and 81st streets and the widening of 81st Street between Riverside Drive and Lewis Avenue were completed in November 1987. The Riverside Drive extension should help relieve traffic on Lewis and Peoria avenues. The southern terminus likely will remain at 81st Street for several years, as an extension project was in the 1987 sales tax, which failed October 6. According to the city of Tulsa, plans are to extend Riverside Drive to connect with Delaware Avenue at 96th Street. Photograph taken November 21, 1987.
