Piers are appearing rapidly at the I-44 Arkansas River bridge. Nine columns have been poured, and two footings are awaiting columns. One pier cap (the concrete crossbeam connecting the two columns) has been poured and is in forms. Another span of the old bridge has been demolished, which leaves only 10 spans still standing. Photograph taken October 8, 1982.
