A couple of reinforcing rods are keeping a small part of bridge railing from falling into the Arkansas River. The concrete sidewalk is gone, and a piece of plywood is all that keeps one from falling into the hole. The metal in the foreground is an expansion joint. At top, background, is the new bridge. This view is on the western portion of the old bridge. Photograph taken May 16, 1982.
