Three weeks following the Flood of 1986, the Arkansas River is starting to return to normal, although the water level still is higher than normal in most areas. The land at the I-44 bridge has reappeared, although several large puddles remain. Debris also is piled up near some of the piers on the westbound (upstream) bridge. Several trees in the area were swept away or severely damaged by the floodwaters. Photograph taken October 24, 1986.
