Traffic jams have become history on 71st Street between Lewis Avenue and the Arkansas River, as the road now is open except on the eastbound approach at Lewis Avenue, where traffic narrows for the one-lane road east of Lewis Avenue. The traffic signal at 71st Street and Wheeling Avenue is in operation with left-turn signals on 71st Street. Landscaping also is under way along this stretch. East of Lewis Avenue, dirt work is continuing on the westbound lanes, and these should be paved within a few weeks. Photograph taken August 17, 1985.
