Traffic congestion is common during peak hours at Skelly Drive (I-44) and Lewis Avenue, but it likely will get better after I-44 is widened through the area. The I-44 project will include numerous improvements to this intersection, including replacing the bridge on Lewis Avenue with a six-lane span. Presently, southbound traffic often backs up to near 45th Street during the p.m. rush hour, which creates delays. This intersection will done concurrently with the 51st Street intersection during the I-44 project. Photo taken June 1986.
