The Seventh Street and Southwest Boulevard intersection is a major access point to downtown Tulsa from the southwest, as traffic coming on eastbound I-244 or northbound U.S. 75 passes through the intersection to directly access downtown. Likewise, traffic going the opposite direction goes through the intersection and then makes a left under the bridge to access westbound I-244/southbound U.S. 75. This intersection is the northern terminus of Southwest Boulevard, as Lawton Avenue follows the roadway to the north and intersects Heavy Trafficway at the bottom of the hill. Heavy Trafficway, which isn't heavily traveled, continues north and terminates at First Street and Guthrie Avenue, where motorists wishing to travel east on I-244 or west on U.S. 64 and S.H. 51 can access the expressway via the First Street entrance ramp. The intersection features left-turn lanes on Seventh Street and a northbound express right-turn lane on Southwest Boulevard. The Burlington Northern Railroad is visible in the background (below the bridges). Photo taken June 1986.
