Traffic is heavy at 51st Street and Harvard Avenue on a weekend morning. The intersection suffers from severe traffic congestion most days, and the northbound left lane sometimes will back up from the left-turn lane onto westbound I-44 (background). In addition to that, traffic on Harvard Avenue and the eastbound left-turn lane on 51st Street often backs up to a half mile in length most afternoons, The intersection is scheduled to be improved when I-44 is widened to six lanes in the area, but there is no timetable for this project.
