Traffic flow improved at 81st Street and Sheridan Road following a temporary widening project completed in 1994. The intersection was widened for a left-turn lane on each approach, and right-turn lanes were added for all but southbound traffic. There still is only one lane for through traffic each direction, which slows traffic passing through the intersection. However, the congestion is not as bad as in the past. The intersection is scheduled to undergo a major widening in the next few years. Photo taken May 1995.
