This intersection received the yield left-turn signal in 1987, which allowed traffic to take a turn for the better, or possibly the worse. While the yield system helps traffic flow by allowing left turns when traffic permits, the hills give limited sight distance to northbound and westbound motorists, and oncoming vehicles aren't visible until they practically are at the intersection. The intersection handles traffic well, and traffic flow to the west will be improved following the widening of 71st Street to six lanes in the 1990s. Photo taken June 1987.
