The yield left-turn signal was installed at 71st Street and Memorial Drive in 1986, which is the first dual left-turn lane intersection to be converted from the restricted left-turn signal to the yield system. According to the city of Tulsa, the 31st Street and Memorial Drive intersection was used as a test to determine how traffic in a dual left-turn lane would respond to a yield left-turn signal. The results were favorable, so the city of Tulsa has begun converting the remaining restricted left-turn signals to the yield system. Traffic flow has responded well to the change.
