A restricted left-turn signal has been installed at 71st Street and Lewis Avenue, as traffic volumes have increased at the intersection. The intersection had restricted left-turn signals for Lewis Avenue until the yield system was installed in 1981. Following completion of widening 71st Street between the Arkansas River and Atlanta Avenue in 1985, 71st Street received the "yield" system. However, the restricted system replaced the yield system in 1994. Traffic flow continues at a good pace at the intersection, which has seen little changes in development except that the former Circle K station on the southeast corner has closed.
