The conversion of the left-turn signal from a "restricted" to "yield" system has helped traffic flow at 61st Street and Yale Avenue. The conversion, which was made in 1987, eliminated the restricted left-turn signal (for now) in Tulsa. Additional improvements soon will be made at the intersection, as the 1985 sales tax is funding a project that will widen Yale Avenue to six lanes from 61st Street north to I-44 (the bridge in the distance). This project is scheduled for construction in the late 1980s or early 1990s. Photo taken June 1987.
