              The 61st Street and Yale Avenue intersection is one of Tulsa’s most improved intersections following a massive widening project constructed in 1983-84. The old intersection is lost in the size of the new facility, which includes dual left-turn lanes on each approach, as well as four lanes for through traffic and a right-turn lane. While the 61st Street approaches were extensively widened for these lanes, the Yale Avenue approaches also received much work, which included converting the single left-turn lane to dual left-turn lanes, adding a third southbound lane on the south approach and installing right-turn lanes. This intersection is unique for left turns, as it is the only intersection in Tulsa (as of this writing) that has four dual left-turn lanes. Due to the dual left-turn lanes, the "restricted" left-turn signal is in use at this intersection. Much development has occurred at the intersection since 1982, as Warren Place and the new Texaco station are complete. The Gulf station on the southwest corner has been demolished and replaced with landscaping for Warren Place. Photo taken January 1985.
