This intersection is scheduled for improvement in 1983, which should relieve a serious traffic bottleneck in this area of Tulsa. Traffic congests heavily at the intersection, particularly southbound on Sheridan Road, where traffic backs up to 51st Street at p.m. rush hour. The intersection will be widened to four lanes with left- and right-turn lanes on each approach. Two hills to the south and east also will be improved. The intersection is part of a larger project that will widen 61st Street to four lanes between Yale Avenue and Sheridan Road. The project is funded by the 1980 sales tax. Several popular businesses are at the intersection, including Safeway, TG&Y and Cattle Rustler's Steak House. Photo taken August 1982.
