The 61st Street and Memorial Drive intersection underwent a pole conversion in April 1986, which made it the last Memorial Drive intersection to have new poles. Signal configurations remained the same as the previous system. Following the signal conversion, work began on a project to widen 61st Street to four lanes with an alternating left-turn median between Memorial Drive and 85th East Avenue. The project, which will improve access to the new Eton Square shopping center, was completed in January 1987. Photo taken June 1987.
