This intersection has been dropped from the bottleneck list as a result of a widening project. The project, which was funded by the 1985 sales tax, involved widening each approach to four lanes with a left-turn lane. The project also widened 61st Street to four lanes between Harvard and Sandusky avenues. Southbound traffic on Harvard Avenue now has two lanes to travel through the intersection and then narrows slowly to one lane near 62nd Street. Previously, the southbound right lane ended in a ditch. The project began in February 1989 and was completed in February 1990. Photo taken April 1990.
