This intersection received a minor facelift in 1990 when a new traffic signal system was installed. The new system contains the same configuration as the previous system, which received the left-turn signal conversion in 1982. The intersection also has benefitted from the widening of Sheridan Road to five lanes between 51st and 61st streets, which makes all of the intersection's approaching arterial streets four or more lanes. A future widening project will expand Sheridan Road to five lanes between the Broken Arrow Expressway and 51st Street. This project, which is funded by the 1991 sales tax, should be built later in the 1990s. Since the previous picture in 1984, a Quik Trip has replaced the Shell station on the southwest corner, and Circle "K" now occupies the former Fina station on the northeast corner.
