Northbound traffic at 51st Street and Memorial Drive received a right-turn lane that will help motorists access 51st Street and the Mingo Valley Expressway better than in past years. The right-turn lane, which was added in 1992 as part of the 51st Street widening project between Memorial Drive and Mingo Road, is the intersection's first improvement since initial widening was completed in 1986. This improvement leaves only westbound traffic without a right-turn lane. Another change is that U.S. 64 no longer travels this part of Memorial Drive. With the Mingo Valley Expressway now open to connect with the Creek Turnpike at 96th Street and Memorial Drive, U.S. 64 now stays on the Broken Arrow Expressway to its interchange with the Mingo Valley and then follows the Mingo Valley south and west to Memorial Drive, at which point it travels south on Memorial to Bixby, Muskogee and beyond.
