The 41st Street and Peoria Avenue intersection has a unique design in which a five-lane street meets a four-lane street. The intersection has left-turn lanes each direction except eastbound, and westbound traffic has a right-turn lane, which is how the second westbound through lane ends east of Peoria Avenue. Westbound through traffic on 41st Street is confined to one lane but then expands to two west of Peoria Avenue. The westbound left-turn lane lines up with the westbound left-through lane west of Peoria Avenue, which doesn't seem to cause much confusion. At this time, there are no plans to improve the east approach. A Safeway store is located on the northwest corner. Photo taken May 1986.
