31st Street and Sheridan Road Looking West, Image B

              The 31st Street and Sheridan Road intersection received new traffic signals as part of a 2008 project to rehabilitate Sheridan Road between 21st Street anmd thje Broken Arrow Expressway. The project involved rebuilding the curbs and sidewalks, making subsurface repairs and resrufacing Sheridan Road with asphalt. The left-turn medians also were removed and replaced with double yellow lines. A temporary traffic signal was installed at the intersection for the project. The permanent signals were installed in the fall of 2008 and became fully operational late in the year. The outline of the original westbound left-turn median (removed in 1977) still is visible in the left-turn lane. Many businesses have changed at the intersection since 1982. "My Dentist" has opened in the former Grandy's, and the old Back Porch Barbecue has become a Quik Trip. The Boman Twin Theater is long gone, but the building remains in use as an entertainment venue.
