This intersection was widened in 1982 for three right-turn lanes (excluding northbound) and two expanded left-turn lanes (westbound and southbound), which were part of a 1977 bond issue project to widen Yale Avenue between 15th and 21st streets. The previous design was four lanes with left-turn lanes on each approach. In the background is an entrnce to Expo Square, which also can be noted on the sign at right. Behind the "Expo" sign is Big Splash Waterpark. On the intersection's southwest corner is Mayo Meadow Shopping Center, while Sears occupies the northeast corner. In the background is Bell's Amusement Park, which features a wooden roller coaster named "Zingo." "Zingo" is somewhat visible just this side of the white water tower. Photo taken June 1986.
