The 21st Street and Peoria Avenue intersection received a rebuilt south approach and new traffic signals for all but eastbound traffic in 2006, but no additional improvements were made. The rebuilt approach was part of a project to rebuild Peoria Avenue between 21st and 31st streets. The street received concrete pavement with an asphalt overlay, new curbs and a sidewalk on the east side. Previously, the street did not have a sidewalk. A new eastbound signal was installed in 2004.
