The 15th Street and Utica Avenue intersection is one that needs improvements to eliminate traffic problems. The intersection is four lanes on each approach but does not have any left-turn lanes, and no-left-turn signs operate during peak hours on all four approaches. A 2001 sales tax project will widen the intersection for left-turn lanes on each approach. The project is scheduled for construction later in the 2000s. This intersection is the eastern boundary for Cherry Street, which runs along 15th Street between Peoria and Utica avenues. In the background are the Broken Arrow Expressway and Hillcrest Medical Center. Prior to the opening of the Broken Arrow Expressway in 1981, U.S. 64 and S.H. 51 traveled 15th Street through this intersection.Photo taken February 2002.
