The 15th Street and Lewis Avenue intersection received a traffic signal conversion in early 1985, which improved traffic flow at the intersection. New poles, mast arms and signals, including pedestrian lights, were installed at the intersection. The right-turn arrows remain for westbound 15th Street. Following the conversion, the no-left-turn signs remained as they were. However, in 1988, the northbound sign was removed. The U Totem now is Circle K. In 1989, crews demolished the closed Apollo-Delman Theater and Massad's, and Walgreens later built on the site. In later years, the Safeway store was demolished, and Office Depot built a store on that site. Photo taken June 1986.
