Traffic problems have been a common theme at 15th Street and Lewis Avenue over the years, as evidenced by the left-turn restrictions in place at the intersection. Norhbound traffic has a no-left-turn sign for all hours, and 15th Street traffic has peak-hour no-left-turn signs. The intersection did receive some relief in traffic volumes following the opening of the Broken Arrow Expressway into downtown Tulsa in 1981. Prior to the opening, much traffic traveled 15th Street through this intersection to reach downtown, as 13th Street (the "temporary" westbound expressway), often was very congested. The intersection has businesses on all four corners, including Impressions Restaurant on the northeast corner, U Totem on the southeast corner, Safeway on the southwest corner and Massad's and the Apollo-Delman Theater on the northwest corner.
