Traffic flow at 15th Street and Harvard Avenue usually is good except during the Tulsa State Fair each fall, when traffic congestion sometimes occurs. This intersection once was part of the eastbound routing of U.S. 64 and S.H. 51 through Tulsa. The eastbound routing of the highways traveled 15th Street from Denver to Harvard avenues and then turned south to the Broken Arrow Expressway near 25th Street. The westbound routing followed the Broken Arrow Expressway west to 15th Street and then followed 15th Street west to Denver Avenue and north to what then was a spur of the expressway to continue to the west. The designation was removed from the street system following completion of the Broken Arrow Expressway in 1981. Prior to the green-arrow conversion in 1979, this intersection had a right-turn signal on the pole that contained a red light and yellow/green arrows. When the conversion was made, the five-head signal presently in place replaced it as well as a three-head signal on the mast arm. Photo taken October 1982.
