In early 1986, the 11th Street and Memorial Drive intersection underwent a second traffic signal conversion that likely will remain in place for many years. The original left-turn signal conversion was made in 1982. The recent conversion saw all new signals, poles and pedestrian lights get installed at the intersection. Despite all of this, the signal configurations remain unchanged from the old system. This intersection still has several remnants from the U.S. 66 days, including the Manor Motel on the northeast corner. Several other old motels are located on 11th Street in this area, and most of them are open. Photo taken January 1987.
