The 41st Street and Sheridan Road intersection is one of Sheridan Road's busier locations, as traffic often congests during the afternoon hours. The northbound left-turn lane often carries many motorists wanting to travel west on 41st Street to either I-44 or to Southroads Mall and/or Southland Shopping Center at 41st Street and Yale Avenue. The intersection has yet to undergo any type of signal conversion, as right-turn arrows and the restricted left-turn signal remain for all four directions. The intersection is four lanes on each approach with left-turn lanes and an eastbound right-turn lane. The warning signs in the distance (by the I-44 bridge) advise motorists of a project that soon will begin to rebuild and improve Sheridan Road between 42nd and 50th streets. The 1977 bond issue project is scheduled for completion in 1983. In the background are Wolfe Nursery and the I-44 bridges, which were widened to add shoulders and redecked in 1980.
