Traffic flow has improved substantially at 31st Street and Memorial Drive following a project that added three right-turn lanes (including a small retaining wall adjacent to the northbound right-turn lane) and converted the overloaded single eastbound left-turn lane into a dual left-turn lane. The project, which began in 1985 and was completed in early 1986, also included modifying the lanes on the east approach and installing a wider left-turn median to match the new width on the west approach. The west approach received a partial lane on the north side of the street as part of the left-turn lane work. This intersection was the first in Tulsa to have a yield left-turn signal installed for a dual left-turn lane. Following the trial period at this intersection, the remaining four intersections with dual left-turn lanes received a yield signal. Photo taken June 1986.
